Want to try your hand at henna? Not sure what to get your cousin for their birthday? A Henna Kit is the answer! These kits make personable gifts that can spark inspiration and could become a loved hobby or more. Plus, you can also gift that to yourself. Treat Yo Self! Each D.I.Y. Henna Kit comes with all you need to get a jump start on learning how to apply henna! You'll learn a little about henna too, but I'll touch more on that in this blog post. What's in the Henna Kit?I have hand made with love each henna kit for the ease of learning. I tried my best to keep it simple, while giving you as much knowledge and tools for success a possible. Henna is such an in depth and creative pursuit. It is highly personal journey between the henna and the artist. Of course I find a fond connection to the art, and maybe you or your cousin will, too. Each henna kit includes all you need to learn how to henna at home... Practice Cone - This is a cone filled with lotion! It's the perfect practice for easy to rub in designs that wont stain the skin. Great for a beginner who just wants to work directly on the skin! Also great for practice on the holographic practice sleeve as it wipes away easily with a paper towel. Holographic Practice Sleeve - this is a simple plastic sleeve with the ability to insert designs (or a blank piece of paper if you really feel creative). This sleeve allows you to see the design through it, while being able to draw with the practice cone on top, tracing the designs. It's great a great place to start if you have never picked up a cone. Designed Insert - to help get you started I created a design sheet with some basics. One side of this insert shows tips on how to create lines, dots, and breaks down the pieces of traditional henna style floral designs. This is all hand drawn by me to represent the best fluidity of doing actual henna. I tried to digitize this sort of thing, and though not impossible, there was some essence lost. Henna is never perfectly symmetrical or smooth when done freehand, and I just find a magic in that one of a kind experience. Blank Insert - this is as it seems, made of thick paper to help create a lasting insert. Feel free to draw on this yourself, or print out photos to insert into the practice sleeve. There is a great design book for fin and festive henna style, easy to download, print and trace! Find it at www.SaraHenna.com Henna Cone - Actual henna! Once you feel ready, like you have graduated from the lotion cone, its henna time! Everyone learns on a different curve so just do what feels natural to you. And be brave! Yes, this will be on your skin for a while, but not long. Don't be afraid, henna looks beautiful in all ways, and staring at a piece you drew on your hand for a few days can really help you appreciate your talents. There will be pieces you want to change, maybe you'll know how to change them immediately and it will click. Other times you'll study the design and it can take a few days to decide what to do to improve the design. It's a lovely way to enjoy and connect with your artistic and creative side! You can also request more cones to come with your henna kit if you wish, $5 for each additional cone. Once Your Henna Kit ArrivesIf you pick up your henna kit directly from me, or if it is shipped to you, there are a few things to know! Number one is that you'll need to place your henna cone into the freezer until you are ready to use it. The practice cone is fine at room temp. There are detailed directions in the kit on how this works but I wasn't able to explain why it is necessary, so I will here. The basic answer is that henna is a natural plant product and will go bad over time, like any food. There are also natural essential oils in henna that will demise and go bad over time, making the henna usable, but you won't get a great stain from it. This is a great situation if you're still wanting to practice and don't mind a stain that lasts just 5 days instead of 14.
